This is a short video explaining some of the fingering I use for playing Boogie Woogie left hand riffs. As you will see in the clip, I use an unusual 'transitional' finger method of moving about through some of the key changes. I don't want to call this either a lesson or "instructional video" as I myself am not sure my it's the right way to play things. To illustrate I have used some brief extracts from the 'Bumble Boogie', 'Swanee River' and some brief improvisations. If anyone else plays this way please let me know - maybe we could form a club {lol}

That was no lesson, nothing but an ego-trip; boogie that fast isn't boogie at all, as any serious foot-tapper will tell you.

How many years you got lessons? You do it so fast, so nobody can learn!

whoa! you're the chap that was up playing with the ben waters band, at cork jazz fest, right? at least i think that was you - which by the way i didnt have a video of, so it wasn't me recording. took up playing boogie woogie recently - well attempting to anyway - cheers for these riffs! must try them out now!

"Alright, let's get on with it." Perfect boogie-woogie attitude. Just get out there and get a whole lotta shakin' goin' on!

the very last last pattern you use is one i use on my boogie song, but its a major 1.4.5 C.F.G progression, not minor like yours, but definitely its an arm workout. Everytime i play it my whole arm is dead in like 20 minutes.

Very Good..I never seen anyone use this boogie left hand STRART on C then next octave C then back to E F then F sharp G then lower octave G then finish with upper octave G can you try it and make a movie? TY

Darn you! I'm SO jealous! That looks SO fun. I'm having a difficult time... I play the piano but I'm not used to this style so it is like VERY difficult to have my left hand doing that rthym and the right doing it's thing. I guess it will come and I'll keep practicing! Thanks for the video! I sure like people like you who s h a r e !
