It looks like footage of Coney Island - approximately 40s - 50s - early 60s. I saw a documentary of Coney Island from American Experience and it was great. (They played this song mid-way through.) By the way, the rollar coaster looks identical to the one placed in Coney Island in New York in those years (therefore it probably is the one).

Everything we humans build turns out to be just a sandcastle.

This era was doomed to die. Inherently, the entire zeitgeist was an odd mixture of old ways combined with the blossom of new technology. That whole era can never again, in the history of the world be repeated. The very progress and optimism that made it so sweet, also doomed it to die. Not unlike the very oxygen we breathe to stay alive is also killing us by oxidizing and aging our cells. Consider, though, the pain progress has spared you from when you romanticize about the past.

That's exactly what happened in New Orleans, we had Ponchatrain Beach, tore it down to build friggen condos which guess what they never did. Years later they built an amusement park a distance away, called it Jazzland, Hurricane Katrina did a number on it, owners if i recall were in talks to sell to 6 Flags

I loved their followup song: "I've Got Sand In My Shoes" released 3 months later. It would seem appropriate. LOLOL

I hate that, when they tear down good stuff that's been there for years, and replace it with strip malls or BS that has no character, that sux!
