Well it looks like you're just creating a network share off an encrypted harddrive which completely ruins the since of security due to packet sniffing. The reason you need the driver is so you and only you can gain access to your files, not let someone else sniff the packets from the encrypted harddrive also getting your password possibly even the encryption key form that sniff.
