More than 220 religious leaders from around the country and from every faith tradition spoke of their support for the Matthew Shepard Act and ENDA, in collars, robes and stoles that all too often signify a strident aversion to equality. They told their stories on behalf of themselves, their denominations and thousands of people from their congregations around the country.

It is a shame that the Christians posting on here condeming gay people are condeming creations of God. You don't like gays? take it up with the Lord.

Excellent point my friend!

He also condemns perversion of justice. Does God condemn homosexuality? Arguable. Does He condemn those who use His name to promote hate or violence against His children? Definitely. This is about the latter, not the former, and so homosexuality being a sin is irrelevant to this argument.

Something the Christians need to remember that they often try to ignore. The writers of the Declaration of Independence and a good majority of the Founding Fathers were Unitarian Universalist, not Christians. While Christianity is the largest religion in the US it is NOT the ONLY religion. It is important to remember this and why the first amendment was written...

If you are a Christian that is true, but if you are one of the other many faiths in this world other than Christian then your statement doesn't mean much. I happen to be Unitarian Universalist so I am Christian, but don't hold faith in what you call miracles...

Some of you christians forget Christianity is NOT the only religion in the world. And the Kingdom of Heaven is not a "Christians-Only" club. It amazes me we all live on the same planet!

Please get an education before I puke! It amazes me how people hide behind a religion to justify hate and fear. It amazes me how people that call themselves Christians are the ones that do the most judging... Its sad.
BradGarbus (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
We must all EDUCATE. We must all learn about other cultures and religions. As you can see in many comments people that label themselves Christians really aren't as they don't live as Jesus lived and not judge.
