Agreed. He also may want to start of perfecting the roll, just incase something does happen. I have heard of using a playground though, they usually have soft ground.

It's not too young if you can handle it but at 11, you may want to start out real slow by just keeping it to ground level for awhile. I wouldn't recomend you start now though seeing as untill your about 16, you may not be strong enough for what required to do parkour.
