Don't want to be pedantic Sean but Dougie himself has said that he wrote this song on a beach in France while feeling homesick during a tour with the Tannahill Weavers in the mid-70's

im in perthshire and ive served Dougie a few times in my shop, i think hes still got a pub in Dunkeld where he sometimes plays live.

Another capo helps a lot to keep strings from wavering below this 6th fret barré, tuning DADGAD/dropped D ? It also maintains here, the E flat tuned 1st fret Capo barré whilst moving the second capo. A rigid capo is a necessary prerequisite for most to play accompaniment in a fixed barré position, while singing of course

Great.I always listen to the living composer performing, covers seldom grab the projection of soul that the author intended, and though they may earn some pennies for the author,the author has to register the work to shut out the suit and tie pirates

I'm in Southern California, have only been to Scotland once, but I'm 1/4 Scottish through my mother. I learned of Dougie years ago, through an ex-girlfriend. It's one of the best things she did for me!

I've heard Dougie several times here in Southern California, and he never ever disappoints. I even had the chance to chat with him after one performance about his change from a pretty ardent nationalist to a quieter more sedate singer. He's a class act, all the way around.
