Depeneds on your goals. If you wan to build a big thick chest, you need to lift heavy bench press every 5-7 days. Pushups daily will in no way give you any substantial increase in mass.If you can't get to a bench or weights, then doing weighted push ups every 4 or 5 days is what you have to work with. It's all about muscle stimulation and recovery.1- pushups don't give you much growth stimulation. The resistence is too low.2- Doing them everyday gives no time for recovery.

so if i shouldn't do push-ups every day, what should i be doing?
HomesliceDrummer (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Um, wrong. pushups break down the deltoid and pectorals. Push-ups daily is not good for hypertrophy a all ,and in fact does the opposite. And, you weren't correcting me, you were giving an addendum, which was a faliure. Daily pushups is a bad idea if you want to get big.

Correction to all of you: Intensive workout of one muscle everyday WILL make the muscle smaller and weaker. BUT normal exercises won't (i.e: 200 push ups)

Correction:Working the same muscles out everyday WILL make the muscle smaller and weaker.

Working the same muscles out everyday can make the muscle smaller and weaker

is it true working out everyday make the muscle harder but it will not gain muscle very much. example like biceps
