Nice, I was in C Co 159th Avn "Flippers", out of Ft. Bragg, NC. Nice to see our sister unit! Pinnacle landings rock, we did some in Afghanistan on the steppe farming slopes, our blades like 3 feet from the ground! Probably the craziest maneuver we ever did. The pilots didn't even realize how close we were to a blade strike, they told us Crew Members to "wave it off if it looks too dangerous." When they saw the pictures later they about crapped their pants! Go HOOKERS!

In fact I remember being at Bagram in 2001 and being told 10th Mountain div. 'didn't do mountains'. - thought it was quite funny.

It's an American Chinook. How do I know? 714 engines and the position of the flare box. Also, no EAPS fit. And for your information we were doing this 7 years ago, a lot quicker that that in the stan, and still are. No self respecting RAF pilot or crew would spend that long in the hover - it's an invitation to get shot down. And I know this because I do it for a living. And I'm not scared of AFCS off either. |
