Here's how I'm teaching myself the major chords: This might confuse some people but maybe not. There's a phrase to help remember line notes of the bass clef. Great Big Dogs Fight Animals (G, B, D, F, A). So, I use this phrase to help remember some major chords. For G Major, you think Great Big Dogs. So the G Major chord contains the notes G, B, D. For the D major chord you think Dogs Fight Animals. This chord has the notes D, F, A. And you just have to remember there's one sharp. D, F#, A
