Ok i have interviewed slash this is what he said that he was fed up with Axls Dictatorship on the band and screwing them around for example, he said there would be days when they would turn up at the studio and not have anything to do, also for incidents like this walking off of stage and not even showing up to gigs, another reason is Axl wanted to bring in another guitarist who was more like an industrial guitarist and Axl wanted to turn them into what GnR are now and Slash wanted to keep it
