Well, now that you mention it, I did nearly burn down the dormitory at General Motors Institute when I was there as a second year engineering student in '73. Came back to my room full of flames...unattended candles did it!

Hehehe, yes indeed. I can imagine you getting a lot of warnings from admin for nearly blowing up the science wing on numerous occasions. xD

The real Tesla Turbine has high speed ...and GOOD power. Tesla raved about 10 horsepower per pound of turbine! However, the Tesla turbine doesn't develop much torque until it reaches half of it's maximum speed. I would have to run this turbine at a minimum of 20,000 rpm to begin to get into it's torque range. Use of a 4:1 gear reduction would quadruple the torque in the 5000 rpm range required for the skilsaw blade. Also, this is a CD case and CD's; efficiency is about 2 % of what Tesla got.

to be serious, i think you showed the problem of the teslaturbine exactly: high speed and poor power. i dont know where you can use it, but i guess there are a few things. tesla was great!

Yes, yes, that's it...I like to push "sharp" things to the "edge" you might say!
