I wonder why B.B. King swears by Joe then. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I'd say he's not an insult if was brought up by the King himself. Just my opinion.

johnny lang = kenny wayne shepherd = joe bonamassa = insults to the black-american idiom the blues

He's not playing the blues, just something that sounds like it. He's a wonderfully gifted copycat. And, in that sense, I do enjoy it for what it is - I have all his albums. But it ain't the real thing.

Lesia34....I suppose you want him to play out of tune and time....then he'd be "authentic"?Joe's really a rock guitarist who delves into the blues realm. His stongest influences are obviously Cream-era Clapton, Gibbons, Page etc...not Muddy Waters and Son House. Just enjoy him for what he is instead of worrying about being "true to the masters".

That's one badass sound he's getting from the 900 mixed with the silver jubilee.
Lesia44 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
A fantastically well executed facsimile of the blues. Dazzling, but ultimately empty.
GoodGawd (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Wicked and epic.
