actually they have a lot in common and both know it: slick talking, vanity, nerd fratboy alpha male prankster rebellion. howard is more honest but tom is less self-worshipping.

I don't think either is the douchebag. I think that Tom Snyder represents mainstream media and can't rise to the bait that Howard Stern throws out there. I think Stern wanted to have a debate about censorship and morals reflected in American media, and the different layers of control that channel a specific kind of morals. But Snyder is bound by "decency" not to engage. Snyder kept trying to make the interview "decent."
