The reality is, hiphop was killed by the new generation. The culture of hiphop and rap music has lost its meaning, just like Christmas lost it's meaning to commercialization. They don't give a shit about it. It's all about social status nowadays, both for new rappers and their listeners. You listen to Soulja Boy, you're cool. You brag about wealth, style and being street then kids would dig your music. Fuck that shit. Is hiphop alive? I don't know, but I'm getting pessimistic about it.

just because some of the best rappers are dead doesn't mean there will not be great rap/hiphop music anymore. it's the very popular music today mostly that sucks, but there's some good talent underground.
