Yeah but it happened because of the Community Reinvestment Act passed under Carter and pushed by Clinton and Freddie and Fannie which were created by FDR. Between Wilson, Lincoln, and FDR it's a horse race for the worst ever president.

...but he can and should PRESENT legislation for adoption by Congress. And that takes precise planning and expertise by economists with a track record of navigating through complicated financial quagmires.

So what is O'bama's economic plan? What was the First Bush's economic plan? What was Clinton's plan for the economy? The president does not have nearly the power you think he does. He can't pass legislation, at least not yet

jjrglobal, a president's economic policy does not mean controlling the global economy. It does mean putting incentives and safeguards in place to provide stability. What was GW's economic policy? Answer: He didn't have one. This blew Paul O'Neill away. O'Neill was GW's Treasury Secretary. He'd been in GW's dad's cabinet, and was SHOCKED at the slipshod operation of GW's White House.Serious--read the book and you'll find out what 'economic policy' means."The Price of Loyalty"

You believe that the president has the power to understand and control the wants and needs of every person on the planet? That's what is necessary to control the global economyWhat exactly was GW's economic policy? What will Obama's policy be?You need to understand that any gov't intervention into the free market creates distortion and hence malinvestment.W/O Fannie and Freddie's explicit Gov't guarantee, do you think investors would have bought the mortgage backed securities?socialism failed

mightyturisas: "They haven't said how Obama is different from Bush either."If you don't know that, you weren't paying any attention. These two campaigns provided the clearest ideological difference between presidential candidates in a long time.

jjrglobal: "George Bush's economic plan? What economic plan? A president should not have an economic plan. If he did that would be central economic planning."Are you kidding me? Without an economic policy, we've ended up where we are right now. You need to read Paul O'Neill's account of being GW Bush's first Treasury Secretary. It's a book called 'The Price of Loyalty.'Anybody who wants a serious look at the ineptitude of this White House needs to read it.

Hey stupid and paranoid. What Obama wants to do is redistribute OPPORTUNITY, which is currently the exclusive territory of the rich. Try and understand what he's actually SAYING instead of spreading baseless bullshit. And socialism? You've already got it. Your government has taken over ownership of your financial sector, and it happened under a REPUBLICAN President. Not even up here in 'Soviet Canukistan' has the government ever had to do that.

Obama voted against the war in Iraq, and only voted with Bush 37% of the time, compared to Mccain's 92%. Pretty big contrast if you ask me. |
