That is pretty awesome! The whole purpose of making these robots is to learn how animals move. If they do it right, they seem truly alive and fluid rather than mechanical and clumsy. One way to learn how a creature moves the way it does is to build a machine to mimic that same movement. Essentially, it's non-invasive biological study and engineering.

Its not useless at all. Its a way for biologists to study natural underwater life without disturbing the environment with people, cameras, etc. etc. Or at least it could develop into something like that.
