This is really so much less about music than just his kind of life philosophy showing through. The guitar's just kind of there so he can fuck around with it while he's talking.

i think it's quite fascinating the way in which he describes 'seeing' words as shapes; it sounds as if he may have had a mild case of syneasthesia, a neurological disorder in which the senses overlap and are sometimes confused, so a person might hear a taste, or smell a thing upon seeing it. If he truly saw words as shapes, he might have experienced other 'mixed' sensual stimuli, as well. Fascinating, I think.
