The Large Hadron Collider is the largest and most complex scientific instrument ever built and the highest energy particle accelerator in the world. The accelerator is located 100 m underground and runs through both French and Swiss territory. ( 27km circumference)Year 2008 September 10th, marks the culmination of 20 years of work by over 8000 scientists thousands of engineers, technicians and support staff from over 80 different countries.some critics say that this could create a black hole and suck up the entire world..but many say that even if a black hole is created it will wannish within a millionth of a second..Latest : they have successfully done the 1st testing on the 10th September 2008, sending 2 beams separately clockwise and anticlockwise, which had successfully gone all the way around the ring. but there had been some minor errors, which we dont have to worry about.***due to a helium leak, the LHC wont be re-started till 2009.for more info follow these links.(i think the best footage/documentary from the LHC) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... http://lhc-first-beam.web.cern... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/w... video is done by Chris Mann, (the link: http://lhc-first-beam.web.cern... CERN- European organization for nuclear research /lhc first beam.Hope this video must have been use full 2 u..This is the first and the original video with the best sound and video quality,by the title "end of the world?, the Large Hadron Collider ( LHC )"Please subscribe, leave a comment or rate, i would love 2 see your feedback! guys i don't think this affects anything cause the earth has been hit by bombs by like lots of times and atoms always collide everyday under us i really think that it will not do anything harmful to the earth. even Stephen Hawkings said "nothing will happen".

but the bigger the denser and if it still grows then it may end up collapsing in on it self

what?

"And actually the divice lasted about 10 days before it broke and is now shut down for the winter. 10 billion well spent. Not only will it take them years to get any results from it, all it will do is pose another huge set of questions."Yeah... what has CERN done for us anyway... Btw next time a loved one of yours has cancer you might want to try and convince them not to use PET and fMR-imaging. I mean you wouldn't want to be a even bigger hypocrite would you now?

In the quran it states about the big bang so how can it be false?
noticepair (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Actually it DID kill us, but only in that universe in which the collider created the black hole. We came from the same past, but enjoyed a different future in which the collider broke down and did not work. I know I lost several of my socks when it happened.

Yes its already been turned on, but there have been NO high speed collisons performed yet. And actually the divice lasted about 10 days before it broke and is now shut down for the winter. 10 billion well spent. Not only will it take them years to get any results from it, all it will do is pose another huge set of questions.

you have a point, but i was responding because he made it sound like it goes directly into a black hole in like a milisecond. we would die in less than 10 seconds.

odd thing about black holes... the smaller the diameter the more powerfull the gravity is so smaller is worse
Sentinal3131 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
o thats ok then...you realise a black hole that size would only get bigger and would still destoy us
