Marek mentioned that he was already feeling the symptoms of his illnes when he began boxing ... you can really see that his smoothness is gone in this fight. His heart is still there but the legs aren't responding they way they used to in his early kickboxing fights. I really like Marek. He is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Up there with Julio Cezar Chavez, Andy Hug and Lennox Lewis. Some fighters embody that fighter spirit morethan others. Marek is one of those guys.

Because there was really no money in kickboxing in USa. That is still the case. Marek probably made as much if not more boxing these "nobodies" as he made fighting world champions in kickboxing. In the US, most kickboxers switch to boxing because there is much more money in it. Now, they're switching to MMA for the money.

Agreed. I wasn't challenging your comment, I too think that Marek was better at kick boxing than boxing. That's exactly what I thought, he didn't lose any boxing fight because his opponents weren't such great boxers. Then, why did he even bother with box instead of focusing on kick boxing 100%?

I mean no dispect whatsoever. I trained with Marek at Superkick Gym in Maywood.I have nothing but repect for him.But he never fought the same quality of boxer as his kickboxing opponents. Beating Thurman, Roufus & Wilson says a lot!

True, but he didn't lose any boxing match did he?

Sadly, he was not as good a boxer as a kickboxer. He had dynamite in his legs!
