Personally, I don't know Russian language...I know English...So I came to US...I wanted to go to Russia/Germany/France...That was what I thought before...but who would sacrifice their youth learning other language from scratch?Does this answer something here?

Personally, I think any State Department careerist who specializes in Russian affairs-as well as any US military career officer whose career plan involves Russian military affairs, would do well to study in Russia for at least a year. Not among military people or diplomats, but among common scholars.
