Umm, but they didn't get chased out because of their beliefs. Even worse, they've been chased out because they wouldn't adhere to others' beliefs.

I'm an atheist and my best friend is Catholic, there's no problem at all, people have different thoughts that's all. Sure, I like to have an intelligent debate once in a while on which side is right. I just happen to think that science makes sense and religion doesn't. The reason people don't like atheists, I think, is because anyone who is religious is getting their beliefs challenged and up until recently anyone who questioned religion was killed. No one wants to be wrong. Think, don't believe

Hmm only about the damage part, to me it looks like its changing.. When I look at the people I know both in RL & online I can honestly say I can problably count religious extremeists on 1 hand and unreasonably aggressive atheists on more more fingers than I'd have in 4 life times.. Maybe its different in America but the fact that Christianity itself branches off so much is a big factor.. And I've generally found the extremeists to base their causes on the Old Testament....

Agree with you 100%. For most people, however, the only proof that's enough is what they have been taught since childhood OR it's what the majority believes. Not everyone likes to think outside the box, unfortunately, but being open to the opposite and questioning it is what moves you forward.P.S. I was on my friend's comp when I typed the last comment, it's under imraan47, but didn't realize I was not signed into my own account.Good day/night though!

Agreed. It's funny, because there is no proof that there is a God or that there is not. If there were concrete evidence to wither, we would not be having this discussion. It's amazing to me how many people believe they are right with no proof of the same.

True, I am not denying the fact that some atheists can be zealots as well. However, history has proven that it's in fact religous fanatics who cause most damagae in the world when compared to atheists. It's obvously ok to have personal beliefs, it's when the extremes come out that's when it starts to burn.

You in part, denied the fact that Aethiests can be zealots as well. I have found through personal observation that there are Aethiests who harbor the same distain towards people who believe in a God as religious people have towards them. It's not a just a religion problem. It's everyone. EVERYONE believes they are the ones who are right and that everyone else is wrong. There are very few truly open minded people in this world.

I agree with you, partially. Unfortuantely, within religious groups 95% of the people ARE those zealots and fanatics that "are causing 95% of the problems for the rest of us". Look at it in this simple way, EVERY religion will tell its followers that they are right, but at the same time will say that OTHER religions are wrong. So everyone is 'right' AND 'wrong' at the same time. It's a REALLY effective way to divide the population... thus making it easier to control it.

The problem isn't with relgion or non-religion. The problem is that people can't accept each other for what they are, regardless of what they believe. I personally think that every religion or non-religion gets persecuted by the people "on the opposite side" that are simply full of hate and incapable of accepting anyone for who they are. Every group has their zealots or fanatics, and it is usually the zealots that are causing 95% of the problems for the rest of us.
