Bottom line is ... the people who put the ad together should have known better. Any artist should have true ownership of their product, regardless. If they want to use his work, they should have paid for it or asked for it to be considered as a contribution. Browne should have been able to say 'No.'BTW, I'm not an artist. I just hate seeing artists lose control of their work. You see examples of it everywhere!!!

McCain had nothing to do with the ad. The RNC put this ad together. I like this song, not for any political views that Jackson Browne (I thought it was an Eagle's song) may or may not have.Quick question, if he was 21 in 1965, is he older than John McCain?

I've always been a Jackson Browne fan and I'm 34 (born in 1974). He's one of the greatest. McCain is truly lame.

Trying to encourage campaign contributions counts as trying to get money. Especially when you know they play the song at fundraisers, since it is familiar to the supportersHigh schools have to pay royalties to Paul Simon if they have tickets for the play. This is much larger scale than that.

First of all if someone buys the cd they can play it anytime and anywhere for whomever they want, as long as they don't charge for it and if they use it on a cd jukebox they have to pay ascap to play it; the ad agency pays to use the song, and as for him thinking that people think he's for macain hell I am 36 i didn't even know who he was! And I don't think to many people care if he's for macain or not!! If you ask I think he's running on empty...Wallet?
