Robert Burnstine, M.D., director of pediatric ophthalmology at Akron Children's Hospital, will perform the surgery, while Amarpreet Singh, M.D., will act as a moderator.About one in 3,000 people have congenital nystagmus, and many of these individuals are partially sighted. my son had this done at six months of age. the problem is that he will have to have it done again at some point in his life as he grows.

I had this operation (at the age of 67) in Pittsburgh in April of 2008; tenotomy I think it's called. It worked. I can read things that I couldn't before; my night vision is a lot better; and I improved two lines on the damned eye chart. And there were no adverse effects. This after I'd been told by 15 opthamalogists over a lifetime that there was no treatment.I'd had the condition my whole life; the operation was a mini-miracle.Bob

It has been a year since this video broadcast,; I am first viewing it. I am 54 with CN, and my oldest sister also has CN. I would like to know if this surgery is an option at this stage of life, as most CN patients are always "looking" for improvement.

I have nystagmus. I had this surgery done about 2 years ago. It made my vision improve from 20/60 to 20/40. It was amzaing who much this surgery improved my life. To anyone with nystagmus I would like to say have this operation done. Dr. Bernstien was a great doctor to preform this operation.
